Leadership
For more than 100 years, the American Heart Association has made bold moves to save lives and pioneer scientific discoveries. We haven’t done it alone. We reach our goals working with organizations and individuals who share our vision for better health and today, the Go Red for Women community is stronger than ever. The American Heart Association, through Go Red for Women, is prepared to meet the evolving needs of women now, and at every age, every stage, and every season of their lives as their trusted, relevant source for credible, equitable health solutions, and that is why our volunteer leadership is so important. Go Red for Women is a catalyst for this critical work.

Dr. Haley Hughston
“For decades, cardiovascular research was built on a male blueprint... My ‘why’ is rooted in refusing to let ‘atypical’ symptoms – which may be perfectly typical for women – be dismissed as anxiety or indigestion. I wear red because I’m tired of seeing women come into the ER three days too late. I’m here to help them get in three years early through prevention, education, and the courage to put their own heart first.”

Dr. Marina Iskandir
“Heart disease remains the leading cause of death for women, yet it’s often misunderstood or overlooked... Dr. Hughston and I are proud to bring our community together to raise awareness, share life-saving information and empower women to take charge of their heart health. When women support one another and have access to the right knowledge, we can truly change outcomes for families across West Texas.”
